For irregular shapes, Use these formats to achieve square footage

Shape Formula Calculator inputs
Multiply length by width.  length x width = Sq. Area
Square the circle’s radius; multiply by 3.1416. diameter
Halve the base length; multiply by height. Or, multiply the base length by the height and divide by 2. base length x height / 2
Square the short diameter; multiply by .866. short diameter
Square the short diameter; multiply by .828. short diameter
Draw the project out on graph paper, with 1/4 inch representing 1 foot. Count up the number of squares. Partial squares count as one. length, width

Other easy to use Formulas for Quick Estimations

Slabs .003125 : If you know the total square footage of the area to be poured.  Simply multiply the thickness of the slab in inches, by our magic # .003125, then multiply that by the square footage. This is a very accurate method. Always to plus side by no more then 2-3%.

example:

                                   a slab 60 ft. x 40 ft. = 2400 sqft.
if the slab is poured @ 4 inches then
                         step#1     4 x .003125 = 0.0125 this is our multiple
                         step#2      2400 sqft x 0.0125 = 30 cu.yrds.
